Sock·et Jock·ey (noun): An individual who appears to be wandering about on an indeterminate path without purpose when, in fact, they are searching for a power plug to charge their laptop or other portable electronics device. Frequently, this person can be observed to be swiveling their head back and forth, with eyes aimed at the floor boards. This individual can most commonly be observed in airports, but may also be seen in coffee shops, libraries, and fast food restaurants.
The verb form to represent this behavior is Socket Jockeying (Sock·et Jock·ey·ing). Example use: “My battery is dying, looks like it’s time to go socket jockeying.”
